In accordance with the
‘Objectives, Composition and Operational Aspects’ of the EU Multi-Stakeholder
Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility, and in view of the discussions held
at the launch meeting on 16 October 2002, the Work Programme for the Round Tables
is comprised of the following issues:
- a provisional Roadmap for the Round Table meetings
- a description of the role of the
Rapporteurs
- a set of basic rules for the Round Table
meetings, which will ensure their smooth proceeding
- a format for the first meetings of
the Round Tables, which may be adjusted for the further meetings
The attached indicative
lists of subthemes for the Round Tables were
discussed by the Forum in its meeting of 19 December 2002.
Context
The Forum, through the
Round Tables, has the overall objective to promote innovation, transparency
and convergence of CSR practices and instruments through:
- Improving knowledge about
the relationship between CSR and sustainable development by facilitating
the exchange of experience and good practices and bringing together
existing CSR instruments and initiatives, with a special emphasis on SME
specific aspects;
- Exploring the
appropriateness of establishing common guiding principles for CSR
practices and instruments, taking into account existing EU initiatives
and legislation and internationally agreed instruments.
The Round Tables shall
meet in three parallel waves. Each Round Table shall hold at least three
meetings. Provision will be made, after each wave of meetings, for a meeting
of the Forum at plenary level, which will review progress and seek to improve
the process.
