Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, is organising a high-level seminar on classifications in September 2008 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The seminar is aimed at the top management of the national statistical institutes of TACIS countries.

The purpose of this seminar is to inform the top management of the national statistical institutes (NSI) of the key issues and recent changes in the European Statistical Classifications NACE and CPA, and the effect of these changes on the work of their institutes. The European Community Classification of Economic Activities (NACE) and the European Community Statistical Classification of Products by Activity (CPA) are a part of the integrated system of statistical classifications that exists at the international level. A major revision of both classifications, which has recently been completed, was motivated by the need to adapt the classifications to the changes in the world economy. The revised classifications reflect the many changes and growing importance of service activities in the world economy over the last fifteen years. Adapting to these changes will have a significant impact on the work of the NSIs.

The seminar will be held in Hotel Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent.

Participation is by invitation only.
