Introduction
The "Portrait of the Regions" website seeks to provide an informative and comparable overview of Europe´s regional diversity. The user can navigate through the site by means either of maps or, more directly, by typing the name of the desired region.
Once at the "home page" of the region, the user can choose between a number of thematic texts on aspects of the geography, economy and population of the region.
This site builds on the earlier series of award-winning publications, also entitled "Portrait of the Regions", funded by DG REGIO of the European Commission.
