- FireSDMX is a plugin for Mozilla Firefox 2.0 that helps to create SDMX files starting from an XML schema and vice-versa, it is based on SDMX 2.0 specification and released under Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 Unported License. New 25-Jul-2007

- Although not really OSS, Microsoft has developed a bunch of XML tools
- Ronald Bourret gives an overview of native XML databases, thereof quite a few being Open Source
- RXP is a validating XML parser written in C
- XSV is an open source (GPLed) work-in-progress attempt for validating XML schema parsing
- eXist is an open source native XML database featuring efficient, index-based XQuery processing, automatic indexing, extensions for full-text search, XUpdate support, XQuery update extensions, and tight integeration with existing XML development tools
- Castor is an Open Source data binding framework for Java[tm]. It's the shortest path between Java objects, XML documents and relational tables. Castor provides Java-to-XML binding, Java-to-SQL persistence, and more.
Castor is developed under the Apache 2.0-style license, the project allows the developers to make their objects persistent (to retain data structures between program executions) by using only one interface but allowing them to save the data under different storages (xml file, sql database, flat files...).
