Currency and deposits (F.2)

5.36 . Definition:

The category currency and deposits (F.2) consists of all transactions in currency and deposits (AF.2) that is currency in circulation and all types of deposits in national and in foreign currency.

5.37 . Category F.2 is divided into three sub-categories of financial transactions:

a) currency (F.21);

b) transferable deposits (F.22);

c) other deposits (F.29).

The distinction between transferable and non-transferable deposits may be difficult and not very useful analytically in some countries (for the distinction between deposits and loans see paragraphs 5.74. – 5.76.).
